Privacy policy

Home Assistant Reolink Backup is a private application operated by Randy Schack for personal camera-image backups.

Data accessed and used

The application uses Google OAuth authorization and the Google Drive API through rclone. It transfers Reolink camera images from Home Assistant to the owner's Google Drive and reads file information, such as names, sizes, dates and checksums, to determine what to copy and verify backups. The permissions granted on Google's consent screen determine the extent of Drive access; full Drive permission, if granted, permits access beyond the backup folder.

Storage and retention

Camera images remain on Home Assistant and are copied to Google Drive. OAuth tokens and application credentials are stored in the Home Assistant rclone configuration to allow unattended operation. Operational logs may contain filenames and transfer results. Backup files remain until the owner removes them; copying does not delete the local source files.

Sharing and limited use

Files and associated metadata are sent to Google Drive to provide backup storage. Google processes that information under its applicable terms and privacy policy. The operator does not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, share it with advertisers, or use it to train general-purpose AI models. Google user data is used only to provide and maintain this personal backup workflow. Its use adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Control and deletion

The owner can stop the scheduled backup, revoke the application's access in Google Account settings, remove saved credentials from Home Assistant, and delete backup files directly from Google Drive. Revoking access stops future authorized access but does not automatically delete existing backups or local copies.

This website

These informational pages have no analytics scripts, advertising, login forms or tracking cookies. The hosting provider may maintain ordinary web-server access logs.
